I think most of you have read or seen the news about the Black Ops mod called cmMOD. A mod that offers the basic features from COD4, and first released under the name Promod on the Tek-9 site.
We want to inform you that this is not an official Promod release, or something supported by us. We also feel it’s important explaining how the mod works and why it’s not recommended to use.
Like many already know the promised Mod Tools for Black Ops haven’t been released yet. That means, in short, that you as a modder can’t test, verify or compile the mods you create. You can however still write, or rip, the scripts (code) and then inject them into your system. This is generally done with a tool normaly used for injecting hacks, and in other words a bannable offence to the VAC rules.
We are however aware of that Black Ops really need a matchmod, but ask you to be careful with what you use until there is a legit mod released! Our work with Promod for Black Ops continues as planned and further information will be presented together within a near future.

We are hoping for soon obviously, but until then continue focusing on COD4.

3. Modloader is not a hack + nobody is banned yet, so it means treyarch doesn’t ban for it.

I’m not gonna comment that. The only reason for accepting (1 out of 3) your comment is to show the maturity level of the cmMOD project.

You do not own the name ProMod. If you think I am wrong I would like to see the certificate that gives you the legal right to be the sole user of that name.
No you are right we, for obvious reasons, doesn’t own the name Promod. We are doing this for the scene and dont have the economy to do such things. But to me its common sense to play fair, and do whats best for the scene. You on the other hand doesn’t seem to have any interest in doing so.

2. There was a mod called “ProMod” on MW2, you didn’t whine about that.
3. You might’ve noticed that our main-dev promised to release it as soon as Mod Tools are out.
And on a personal side note: We already spoke to him (Eekhoorn) several times about not posting such bs as you’ve seen above.
The only reason I actually found this was because someone gave me the link (not Eekhoorn).
VAC ban yes or no ????
It can get you VAC banned yes. But most likely only if having VAC turned on, the option of having it off is still there.
